Idol mania!

24 07 2009

Sacramento was twice as hot as usual, as the American Idol tour rolled through town Friday night, the 10th of July, bringing scores of teen idol worshipers to the central California town.  From preteens to grandparents, everyone was treated to a night of pop tunes sung by their favorite idol. The evening was a buzz as if the Arco Arena was taxing for lift-off, and Michael Sarver opened the show with his unique brand of country rock which was the perfect kick-off to this night.  Following that was the quirky Megan Joy and her sexy pop ballads that swooned the arena.  Scott Macintyre rose from center stage playing a baby grand piano and belted out an awesome version of a Coldplay tune that was stellar.  Allison Iraheta soon followed with her “Janis Joplin” style vocals so powerful, the audience was in awe that such a big voice came out of such a tiny girl.  Lil Rounds took it from there with her smooth R & B sound that is years beyond her age which proves that she has a long future in music.  Next, Anoop Desai the “College Kid” won over the crowd with his crooning and bluesy sound. Danny Gokey had the crowd on their feet rockin out to classic rock & soul songs and dedicated the set to his late wife calling her the “love of my life”.  Matt Giraud was a master on piano and banged away to familiar songs and had the audience clapping away to the beat! Then it happened…..

The stage went dark for 10 seconds and then……..Boom!  Adam Lambert took the stage amid smoke & pyrotechnics and the crowd went mad, screaming as if the Beatles had taken the stage.  Adam did not disappoint whipping the crowd into a frenzy with hits from the 60’s 70’s & 80’s and leaving the audience exhausted!  This years American Idol winner Kris Allen closed the show with his Jack Johnson style of barefoot rock bringing the evening to a smooth landing.  Sales Executive Carl Elizondo, Owner Seth Sheck, & Sales Ninja India Anderson met back stage with Tour Manager Jessica Roncker & all of the idols for a nice chat & thank you’s, it was indeed an exciting evening for all!

Run Danny Run! And swim, and bike…

22 07 2009

When Danny’s not working with the biggest names in sports and entertainment, he’s training his ass off to compete in triathlons, while raising money and awareness to find a cure for cancer.  It’s always one extreme to the next for him.  Here he is burning mad carbs at the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon back on June 14.  Could there be an Ironman in his near future?  Stay tuned…

If I could be like that…

6 07 2009

I’d want to be like 3 Doors Down who rocked the house in Reno Friday night!  In an intimate setting at the Silver Legacy, we saw firsthand that these guys are not just another rock band, they are the coolest, most down to earth group that we’ve seen yet.  We’ll be singing “Here Without You” until they come back to Reno … thank again for the tickets Gary!!!

19 05 2009

At this year’s Showcase of Print/Design Excellence APD picked up two gold awards and one silver. Passes made for Phish’s quick stint earlier this year at The Hampton Coliseum took home the best of category. The award show was held May 1st, at the Hilton SF Union Square, needless to say I stuck out like a sore thumb. See below as I receive the best of category award in front of millions of screaming fans.
